Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), the busiest airport in Utah, recently underwent a major transformation, now offering a modern, streamlined travel experience through a brand-new terminal complex. Rather than being spread across multiple terminals, SLC now operates with a single, state-of-the-art terminal building, which is divided into two main concourses: Concourse A and Concourse B. This layout simplifies navigation and enhances passenger convenience.
Main Terminal (The Gateway to All Flights)
All departing and arriving passengers start their journey in the Main Terminal, a spacious, multi-level hub designed to handle both domestic and international travel efficiently. The terminal is spread across three levels:
- Level 1 serves as the arrivals area, including international customs and immigration.
- Level 2 houses baggage claim and TSA security checkpoints.
- Level 3 is home to ticket counters and the entrances to the concourses.
Once through security, travelers enter The Plaza, a central area filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and airline lounges. This is the gateway point to reach either of the two concourses.
Concourse A
Located to the west of The Plaza, Concourse A is primarily operated by Delta Air Lines, one of SLC’s major carriers. This concourse features over 30 gates, currently numbered A1 to A25 and A27 to A35, with further expansion in progress.
The design is spacious, featuring large windows with mountain views, charging stations, work areas, and a range of dining options, from quick bites to sit-down restaurants. Travelers flying Delta will enjoy access to a premium Delta Sky Club lounge. With more gates being added in phases, this concourse is expected to accommodate increasing passenger volumes in the coming years.
Concourse B
To reach Concourse B, passengers walk through an underground pedestrian tunnel connected directly to The Plaza. This concourse serves a mix of domestic and regional carriers, including Southwest, United, American, JetBlue, Alaska, and Frontier.
Currently, Concourse B offers over 20 gates, labeled B1 through B24 (with some numbers skipped). Like Concourse A, it offers a comfortable setting with eateries, coffee spots, retail kiosks, and seating areas. Though slightly smaller than Concourse A, it’s designed for efficiency and easy navigation.
Salt Lake City International Airport has transformed into a modern, world-class facility that’s easy to navigate and built with future growth in mind. Its unified terminal design, combined with the functionality of Concourses A and B, ensures smooth transitions for both domestic and international travelers. Whether you’re flying out with Delta or connecting via another airline, SLC provides a clean, stylish, and well-organized environment for every passenger.
